PURPOSE:To simplify an input operation and to reduce the load of an operator as well as to increase the input operation speed, by reading the designated data out of a document memory to use it as the input data when the retrieval is designated for data of the same character type. CONSTITUTION:A document memory 4 stores the document data on the KANA (Japanese syllabary)-KANJI (Chinese characters) sentences. The data read out of the memory 4 area stored in a stack memory 7 and displayed at a display data 8. For the display of states, the parts A-D shown the same type of characters, i.e., the data on KANJI, KATAKANA (square form of Japanese syllagary), numeral, and alphabet letters are continuous by >=2 characters. The the broken lines show other parts and a dash shows a cursor respectively. Here a search key 1a is operated and a numeric character D closet to the cursor is retrieved and displayed at the cursor part. Hereafter KANJI C, KATAKANA B and a numeric characters A are displayed successively at the cursor position for each operation of the key 1a. IF the displayed data is satisfactory, it is written to the memory 4 by means of a cursor shift key, an execution key, etc.
