PURPOSE:To simplify an input operation and to reduce the load of an operator as well as to increase the input operation speed by reading out the data already put into the documents data with operation of keys and using said read-out data as the new input data. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 2 converts the KANA (Japanese syllabary) data supplied from an input part 1 into a KANA-KANJI (Chinese characters) sentence to store it in a document memory 4. Thus the memory 4 stores the document data. When a phrase search key 1a is operated, a phrase D closest to a cursor is retrieved by a CPU 2 and displayed at the cursor position. Then the next phrase C is retrieved and displayed at the cursor position with more operation of the key 1a. Hereafter the phrases are read out of the document in the memory 4 and displayed at the cursor position for each operation of the key 1a. Then the phrase displayed at the cursor position and if equal to the desired one is written to the memory 4 by means of a cursor shift key, an execution key, etc.
