PURPOSE:To obtain an alloy capable of metallizing ceramics at relatively low temp. by means of ultrasonic oscillation, by providing a composition consisting of specific ratios of Zn, Al, and Si. CONSTITUTION:The alloy has a composition consisting of, by weight, 50-99.5% Zn, 0.05-45% Al, and 0.05-5% Si. This alloy has a relatively high m.p. and is used as an alloy for metallizing for medium temp. service of about 400-500 deg.C, and further, it has considerably high strength which varies with the proportion of Si. In order to metallize with this alloy, e.g., an ultrasonic oscillator 4 is inserted in a molten bath of the alloy 1 for metallizing, with which ceramics 2 is brought into contact to undergo dipping. On application of ultrasonic wave to the oscillator 4, the dipped surface of the ceramics 2 is metallized 3, which is welded in molten state to, e.g., a metallic substrate 5 without delay.
