PURPOSE:To perform stable seal, by a method wherein a material, cured by heating or with time, is located between the deck surfaces of members to be joined, and is fastened to deform the material to cure it by heating or with time. CONSTITUTION:A material 12, cured by heating or with time, is located to a joint 10 between a block deck surface 2a and a head deck surface 4a. The materials 2 is deformed by fastening the material by means of a fastening bolt, and when the material is located to the joint 10, it is cured by heat from an engine during running to achieve function serving as a spacer.
