摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To recover a heavy metal in an oxidation catalyst by treating a residue generated from oxidation with an alkaline soln. to precipitate a heavy metal catalyst, a separating the precipitate, and then treating the precipitate with hydrohalic acid to dissolve the precipitate. CONSTITUTION:An aliphatic group-substituted aromatic compd. is oxidized in a liq. phase with molecular oxygen in the presence of a heavy metal catalyst to produce an aromatic carboxylic acid. After the oxidation is finished, the residue obtained by removing liq. materials from the reaction product is brought into contact with an aq. alkaline soln. to precipitate the heavy metal catalyst as a heavy metal compd. The obtained precipitate is separated from the aq. soln., treated with hydrohalic acid, and dissolved to recover the heavy metal used as the catalyst. Cobalt and/or manganese are used as the heavy metals, and the aq. soln. of sodium hydroxide is used as the aq. alkaline soln.</p>
