The invention relates to a method for producing soles imitating so-called American-sewn soles, and articles of footwear thus obtained. The method is characterised in that it consists in producing, by means of moulding, a thin sole 5 of elastomeric or similar type, whose periphery 6 is thinned, and in directly bonding the said sole onto the heel 1 and onto the insole 4, sandwiching the periphery of the upper 2 of the articles of footwear in question (mules, mocassins or the like), so as to give the sole the appearance of an American-sewn sole.
