PURPOSE:To increase a surface pressure on a deck surface and to force a seal pressure to be uniformly exerted, by a method wherein the spring constant of a spring is changed with a distance from a bolt fastening portion. CONSTITUTION:A metallic gasket 2 is formed with a base plate 4 formed by a resilient metallic plate. In the base plate 4, a combustion chamber hole 6 is formed, and plural bolt holes 8 are formed in a portion around the hole 6. A bead 10, surrounding an edge part 4a of the combustion hole 6 and rounding the inner side of the bolt hole 8, is formed to the base plate 4. The bead 10 is formed with first and second beads 10-1 and 10-2, and the metallic gasket 2 is constituted such that, as a distance separate from the bolt hole 8 side is increased, a spring constant is gradually increased. This constitution enables a uniform surface pressure to be exerted on a deck surface.
