The invention provides azo dyes which contain one or two groups of formula <FORM:1118449/C4-C5/1> in which s and t are each 0 or 1 and X1-X4 are each fluorine, chlorine or bromine, and the dyes which have metallizable groups may be metallized to form complexes of vanadium, chromium, manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel, copper or zinc. The non-metallized dyes are prepared by coupling diazo and coupling components, at least one of which bears one group of the above formula. Examples 1-3 provide mono-azo dyes which may be metallized with copper, Examples 4-15 are water-soluble dyes, Examples 16-18 are disperse dyes and Examples 19 and 20 provide disazo and stibeneazo dyes respectively. Yellow-red-violet colours are obtained. |
