PURPOSE:To facilitate post-recording in a magnetic tape in which recording of video signals is superposed on depth recorded aural tracks by depth recording sound signals for post-recording after storing video signals and making superposed recording above-mentioned stored video signals. CONSTITUTION:At first, a rotary head 8 for monitoring scans a track Tr.1 on a magnetic tape 1 and reproduces only video signals. Then, this is converted to digital values by an A/D converter 26 and stored in a memory B28. A rotary head 10 scans the track Tr.1 the superposed recording of video and sound signals are erased. After erasing, a rotary head 2 scans the track Tr.1, and sound signals for post-recording are depth recorded in the track Tr.1 by the rotary head 2. then, a rotary head 6 scans the track Tr.1. Video signals of the track Tr.1 are read out from the memory B28, and superposed by the rotary head 6 on the track Tr.1 through an D/A converter 30.
