A device for cleaning turbines during operation comprises an element which is connected to a supply of cleaning agent and has an outlet opening which can be shut off or opened indirectly and from which the pressurised cleaning agent can emerge and be sprayed a short distance upstream of the turbine into the working medium line leading to the latter. The said element is formed by a cock or a plunger valve, the housing of which is fixed to the working medium line and accommodates a cock plug or sliding plunger which can be moved from a working position into a shut-off position and back again. The cock plug or sliding plunger has an ejection opening with a special shape by which the spray angle is determined and by which, furthermore, uniform distribution of the cleaning agent over the entire cross-section of the working medium line is guaranteed. With the cock plug or sliding plunger in the working position, the ejection opening is connected via an internal passage to the supply of cleaning agent, and, by turning the cock plug or raising the sliding plunger, this connection between the passage and the supply of cleaning agent can be interrupted and furthermore the ejection opening moved into a position in which it is covered by the housing.
