Water pump for a motor vehicle with a water pump wheel (3) which is coupled to a drive source via a magnetic coupling (5, 6), a watertight partition being provided between the driving part and the driven part of the coupling (5, 6). The pump wheel (3) is mounted on a bearing pin (17) which starts from the partition (4), the inner diameter of the bearing bore of the pump wheel (3) being greater than the outer diameter of the bearing pin (17). The annular space thus formed around the bearing pin (17) is connected at one end to the suction side of the pump wheel (3) and at the other end to the pressure side of the pump wheel (3).
