PURPOSE:To simplify position alignment between a dam and a cap, to improve efficiency in production processes, to prevent position deviation of the cap and to facilitate the automation of the attachment of the cap, by providing position aligning recesses and projections or protruded plates on the dam and the cap. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductor element 3 is mounted on a substrate 1. At least the element 3 is sealed with silicone gel 9. A cap 10 is attached on said substrate 1 through a dam 8. Position aligning recesses and projections 13, 12, 14 and 15 or protruded plates 16 and 17 are provided in the dam 8 and/or the cap 10 in such a semiconductor device. For example, the projection 12 is provided on the back surface of the corner part of the cap 10; and the recess 13 is provided on the surface of the corner part of the dam 8. Or the recess 14 is provided on the side of the cap 10; and the projection 15 is provided on the side of the dam 8. Or the L-shaped protruded plate 16 is uprightly provided at the corner part of the dam 8, and the I-shaped protruded plate 17 is uprightly provided at one side of the corner pat of the dam 8. The cap 10 is attached so that the corner part or its one side of the cap 10 is aligned with the protruded plate 16 or 17. |
