PURPOSE:To erase the board surface of an electronic blackboard simultaneously with the movement of a scanner by holding a character erasing member by the scanner traveling along the board surface and arranging the character erasing member movably to a position to be contacted with the board surface and a non-contact position. CONSTITUTION:The scanner 1 of the electronic blackboard is moved along the board surface 2 in the right direction. At that time, a auxiliary gear 14 is rotated in the clockwise direction following the movement of the scanner 1 to rotate a gear 11 on the shaft 10A of a sliding clutch 10 in the counterclockwise direction. The rotation is transmitted to an arm 7 to rotate the arm 7 in the counterclockwise direction, so that a character erasing brush 8A arranged on the lower side of the scanner moving direction is pressed against the board surface 2. After pressing the brush 8 against the board, the rotation of the gear 11 is transmitted to a gear 12A and the brush 8A is moved in the right direction while being rotated in the direction A with being pressed against the board surface 2. Thus, the character erasing brush 8A can be automatically pressed against the board surface 2 by moving the scanner 1.
