PURPOSE:To make interference of a horizontal scanning black line and shade of a diagonal screen both inconspicuous and relieve a degree of alignment accuracy so sharply, by setting up the diagonal screen with an angle to a horizontal scanning line, and applying the black line in parallel with it on a phosphor screen as a whole. CONSTITUTION:An image is displayed in doing a horizontal deflection with both vertical scanning and modulating signals synchronized by a horizontal deflecting electrode 14. Since the inside enveloped with a back plate 7 and a face plate 5 receives atmospheric pressure from both sides because of forming a vacuum there, in order to resist the pressure, it is formed into such a structure as being supported with a spacer 9, a horizontal deflecting electrode substrate 13 and both longitudinal and diagonal screens 2 and 1. The longitudinal screen 2 is set up in parallel with the horizontal deflecting substrate 13, but the diagonal screen 1 is rotated as far as a theta angle from a direction orthogonalized with the longitudinal screen 2 and fitted thereinto. Also on a phosphor screen 3, a clack line in parallel with the diagonal screen is applied at a 1mm pitch. On the other hand, since the diagonal screen 1 comes into contact with the phosphor screen 3 for supporting, the shade will certainly appear thereon, but it is made possible to be inconspicuous owing to a black line 6b in parallel with the diagonal screen applied at a 1mm pitch in a place other than just under the diagonal screen 1.
