PURPOSE:To prolong the life of a battery power source without deteriorating a data access function by performing delay control over the timing of seek start according to the number of seek tracks which is specified is larger or not than the preset number of seek tracks which affects the battery life greatly. CONSTITUTION:A set track number comparison part 16 compares the number N of tracks which is set previously in a track number register 19 with the specified number (n) of tracks. When n<N, a signal is supplied to the R terminal of an FF1 and the S terminal of an FF2. When n>=N, the signal is supplied to an AND 1 together with the Q output of the FF1 and also supplied to a logical AND 2 together with the inversion output of Q of the FF1. The output of the AND 1 is supplied to the E terminal of a specific time comparison part 20 and the output of the AND 2 is supplied to the S terminal of the FF2. The specific time comparison part 20 compares a specific seek wait time T with the clocked time (t) of a timer 18 and a decision signal when t>=T is supplied to the S terminal of the FF2.
