PURPOSE:To attain a stable tape position regulation in both normal and reverse directions by switching the travel direction of the tape through switching the rotating direction of one capstan and providing a pad shifter separating only a pad in a tape cassette from a magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:A pinch roller arm main body 14C supporting a pinch roller 2 is turnably journaled by a turning shaft 15, and tape guide parts 14a and 14b are integrally formed before and after the pinch roller 2. Accordingly they are arranged around the capstan 1, and the tape travel position is regulated at the time of reproduction. The pad in the tape cassette 11 is pushed by the pad shifter 12, separated from the magnetic head 10, and the tape 17 is driven and sent out by the capstan 1 and the pinch roller 2 right after the guide 14a, and guided by the tape guide 14b and further fed out.
