PURPOSE:To provide a battery whose leakage resistance is good and manufactur ing is easy by using a sealant comprising isobutylene family polymer gelled with a gelling agent. CONSTITUTION:A gap 5 in a battery sealing part is sealed with a sealant 4 made of a polymer mainly comprising isobutylene having a mean molecular weight of 200-3,000 which is gelled with 0.05-5wt.% gelling agent. Any gelling agent which is used as oil gelling agent and is stable to an electrolyte such as alkaline electrolyte can be used, however, a dehydrated condensation product of aromatic aldehyde and sorbitol, or dibenzlidine sorbito or tribenzlidine sorbito which is a derivative of the condensation product is preferable. |
