PURPOSE:To switch two modes of a fixed and a mobile original by using a single motor by using a stopper, a clutch, and a cam in combination. CONSTITUTION:The driving of the motor 12 is switched from either of an image sensor 1 and an automatic feeder 9 to the other associatively with the position shift of the image sensor 1. Namely, a stopper 24 which engages the image sensor unit which is moved to a sheet original readout position to stop its movement is provided at the readout position and a driving force transmission system which connects an image sensor unit movement driving mechanism to a motor device is provided with clutches 18 and 19 which cut off the driving force transmission. Further, the stopper 24 and clutches 18 and 19 are connected mutually through a cam 27 which disengages and operates the clutches 18 and 19 associatively with the engagement between the image sensor unit 1 and stopper 24.
