PURPOSE:To synchronize accurately layer beam emitting operation with the deflecting operation of the reflecting surface of a polygon mirror by outputting a printing signal on the basis of detecting signal for the rotating angle of the reflecting surface and irradiating a beam from the laser beam emitting part to the reflecting surface. CONSTITUTION:When a motor 1 is driven and the polygon mirror 4 is rotated, a detector 11 detects a slit 13 of a slit disc 10 and outputs a pulse signal. The signal is amplified by an amplifier 14, its waveform is shaped by a waveform shaper 15, a multioscillator 16 outputs a frequency signal every pulse, and a gate 17 is opened by the signal from the multioscillator 16 and a signal outputted from a printing signal generator 21 to radiate a beam from a laser beam emitting part 20 synchronously with the rotation of the polygon mirror 4. The beam is reflected by a reflecting surface 3, reflected by a recursive reflecting prism 5, reflected again by the reflecting surface 3, converted into a spot with 50-100mu by a focus lens 6 to scan a photosensitive body 7. An image scanned on the photosensitive body 7 is developed and transferred to recording paper 8.
