PURPOSE:To execute directly write and to execute read by a device for normal density recording, by repeating recording and an erasion at every one track by a flexible disk device for high density recording, and recording a signal. CONSTITUTION:When a signal is written to a flexible disk by supplying a recording signal to a recording/reproducing head 3 by a flexible disk device for normal density recording of 48TPI, and simultaneously, both side parts of a track are erased by an erasing head 4, the signal is recorded to, for instance, odd tracks n+1, n+3, and n+5 seen from a flexible disk device for high density recording of 96TPI and a recording track 6 of a wide width is formed as shown in a figure (a). In case of reproducing the flexible disk in which the recording track 6 has been recorded, by the flexible disk device for high density recording of 96TPI, a reproducing signal is read out of a recording/reproducing head 1 by, for instance, the odd tracks n+1, n+3, and n+5, and not read out by even tracks n+2, and n+4, by which the signal can be reproduced.
