PURPOSE:To provide a carcinostatic agent having low toxicity and excellent carcinostatic activity and containing one or more specific furan-ring acids existing in the liver or ovary, etc., of fish as active components. CONSTITUTION:The objective carcinostatic agent contains a furan-ring fatty acid of formula (R1 and R2 are H or CH3; n is integer of 1-8; m is integer of3-16) as an active component. Especially, a compound wherein both R1 and R2 are CH3 e.g. 12,15-epoxy-13,14-dimethyl-12,14-octadecadienoic acid, etc., has strong carcinostatic activity. It is administered as it is or in an arbitrary form such as emulsion, tablet, solution, etc. The compound of formula exhibits excellent carcinostatic effect against various carcinomas of mouse, is available from natural animal and vegetable and exhibits no grave side effect. |
