1,153,565. Preventing dye migration. BADISCHE ANILIN - & SODA - FABRIK A.G. 7 Oct., 1966 [9 Oct., 1965], No. 44875/66. Heading D1B. Dye migration in pad dyeing of fibrous material with vat, disperse and/or fixing dyes is prevented by applying before, during or immediately after the padding in of the dye a cationic polymer which is a polymer or copolymer of a vinylimidazole or ethyleneimine polymer or a salt or quaternary ammonium compound of such a polymer or copolymer. In particular poly - N - vinylimidazole is particularly advantageous as are the quaternary ammonium compounds of polyethyleneimine in which up to 20% of the nitrogen atoms have been quatenized. Preferably the cationic polymer is applied together with the dye by dissolving in the padding liquid. In examples cotton, rayon, polyester, cellulose triacetate, nylon, and mixtures of polyester/cotton and polyester/rayon materials are dyed. 2.5 to 200% by weight of polymer with reference to the dye is preferably used. Specified compositions for use in the above process are referred to. |
