A colour T.V. tube comprises, next to the luminescent screen 2, a colour selection member 4 secured to a rigid ferromagnetic frame 5 which is protected from electron beam bombardment by a plate 8 supported by the frame by means of a poorly heat conducting mechanical connection. In a three-beam tube a shadow mask 4 is supported in front of a mosaic screen 2 by an Fe frame 5 suspended in the tube by leaf springs. The plate 8 is attached to the frame by U-shaped strips or the plate may be provided with V-shaped projections welded to the frame. To prevent thermal radiation, the mask, the underside of the plate and the outside of the frame are coated black with Cr oxide or AIFe compound. |
