PURPOSE:To simply and easily perform the wavelength selection of a spectroscopic element, by directly imparting rotary motion due to a stepping motor to a diffraction lattice as rotary motion. CONSTITUTION:If the rotary shaft 11 of a stepping motor 10 is revolved by an angle alpha to a clockwise direction, a belt 15 becomes involved in the rotary axis 11 by the peripheral length of the rotary axis 11 corresponding to said angle alpha in one side thereof and the other end of said belt 15 is delivered. A piece 17 to be driven, to which both end parts of the belt 15 are fixed, revolves by an angle beta equivalent to the peripheral length of the piece 17 to be driven corresponding to the displacement quantity of the belt 15. As mentioned above, by revolving the piece 17 to be driven by the angle beta, a diffraction lattice 12 also revolves by the angle beta and the wavelength of the light emitted from an emitting slit provided at a predetermined position changes in quantity corresponding to the angle beta.
