PURPOSE:To obtain a cathode ray tube having a fluorescent film with high luminous intensity, by incorporating a Cd5(PO4)3Cl:Mn phosphor the surface of which is covered with zinc hydroxide or zinc oxide, and a ZnS:Ag phosphor into a fluorescent film. CONSTITUTION:In a cathode ray tube which has surrounding parts comprising a panel, a funnel, and a neck, and fluorescent film formed on the inside of the panel wherein the fluorescent film contains at least a Cd5(PO4)3Cl:Mn phosphor and a ZnS:Ag phosphor, the surface of the Dd5(PO4)3Cl:Mn phosphor is covered with zinc hydroxide and/or zinc oxide. The amount of zinc hydroxide or zinc oxide for covering is preferably 0.01-5.0wt% based on the base phosphor. The covering with zinc hydroxide or zinc oxide improves the relative luminous intensity, which is especially remarkable with an amount thereof in the range of 0.1 to 3.0wt%.
