PURPOSE:To obtain paint which can retain performances such as hiding power, weather resistance, physical properties of its coating film, etc. and gives good finish coat for automobiles, by blending a polyester resin and a melamine resin with an acid catalyst, a lubricant, a pigment and titanium dioxide. CONSTITUTION:A paint compsn. is obtd. by using a vehicle (A) consisting of 65-30pts.wt. polyester resin and 35-70 pts.wt. melamine resin as the main component and blending it with 0.01-5PHR acid catalyst (B), 0.05-5 PHR lubricant (C), 35-45wt% (based on the quantity of solids in paint) pigment (D) and at least 90% (based on the entire quantity of pigment) titanium dioxide (E). When the quantity of the melamine resin exceeds 70pts.wt., the resulting coating film is brittle, while when the quantity is less than 35pts.wt., an effect of increasing the surface hardness of the coating film is insufficient. As the acid catalyst, p-taluenesulfonic acid, dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid, etc. Are added for the purpose of increasing the hardness of the coating film and reducing the damage to the film during polishing.
