PURPOSE:To precisely detect the malfunction of a fuel injection valve by providing a fuel pressure sensor to detect fuel pressure between a fuel pump and a fuel injection valve, and an abnormality judging means for judging the abnormality of the fuel injection valve from variation in the fuel pressure. CONSTITUTION:A fuel pressure sensor 8 is provided to detect the fuel pressure in a fuel piping 10 between a fuel pump 5 to feed fuel under pressure and fuel injection valves 2A-2D. A means for detecting the fuel pressure 12 receives a fuel pressure signal from the fuel pressure sensor 8 to detect variation in the fuel pressure during the operation of each of the fuel injection valves 2A-2D. An abnormality judging means 13 judges the abnormality of the fuel injection valves 2A-2D from the variation in the fuel pressure which is detected through the means for detecting the fuel pressure 12. The malfunction of the fuel injection valve can be therefore detected precisely.
