PURPOSE:To prevent the blow-up disorder, miss fire, and white smoke by learning the difference between the detected ignition timing and an aimed ignition timing on start or immediately after start and carrying out the proper injection timing control. CONSTITUTION:The cylinder head 10A of a Diesel engine 10 is equipped with an injection nozzle 34 which is installed so that the top edge is set close to an engine combustion chamber 10B, glow plug 36, and an ignition timing sensor 38. The opening degree (Accp) of an accelerating pedal 17 is detected by an accelerator position sensor 20. An electronic control unit 56 learns the difference of the ignition timing independently of the opening degree of the accelerator on start or immediately after start. Thus, the shortage of advance angle is generated immediately after start, and the generation of blow-up disorder, miss fire, and white smoke is prevented.
