Keratinic fibres, e.g. wool, are treated with an alkali metal salt of N-dichloroisocyanuric acid in a solution having a pH of 6.5-g to improve their resistance felting. The pH of the solution may be adjusted by the addition of an alkali, e.g. caustic soda. The concentration of N-dichloro isocyanuric acid salt in the solution is preferably such that the active chlorine content of the solution is 1-10% by weight of the fibres being treated and the ratio by weight of fibres being treated to the treating solution is preferably 1:30. The fibres may subsequently be dechlorinated by treatment with a solution containing sodium bisulphite and bleached with hydrogen peroxide or sodium hydrosulphite prior to dyeing. Specification 976,349 is referred to.
