<p>PURPOSE:To enhance the adsorbing capacity of a heavy metal such as uranium, by forming an adsorbent from a metal compound forming metal oxide under heating at high temp. in an oxygen-containing atmosphere and a metal compound forming metal sulfide under heating at high temp. in an oxygen-containing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:One or more of a compound selected from a first group consisting of metal oxide and a metal compound partially or entirely forming metal oxide under heating at high temp. in an oxygen-containing atmosphere is mixed with one or more of a compound selected from a second group consisting of metal sulfide and a metal compound partially or entirely forming metal sulfide under heating at high temp. in an oxygen-containing atmosphere and the resulting mixture is heated at high temp. in an oxygen-containing atmosphere to obtain an adsorbent. As the metal oxide and metal compound of the first group, there are oxide and a compound of an element belonging to the Groups IB, IIA of the Periodic Table and, as the metal sulfide and metal compound of the second group, there are sulfide and a compound of an element belonging to the aforementioned groups of the Periodic Table.</p> |
