PURPOSE:To enable high-quality recording to be performed with uniform and stable liquid discharge assured in spite of repetitively increased frequency by forming a flow channel in such a way that its cross section may gradually decrease from a liquid chamber to an orifice. CONSTITUTION:Recording liquid conducted into a recording head by a supply means fills a recording liquid chamber 5 and a flow channel 4, and forms a meniscus by surface tension possessed by liquid itself at an orifice 6. For this reason, if an assisting signal is supplied to an energy generator 2 provided on a substrate 1, a rapid pressure is inflicted to a recording liquid, and thereby liquid droplets are discharged from the orifice 6. However, a meniscus reduced to a large concave form at the orifice 6 is formed, resulting in the quick refilling of recording liquid conducted from the recording liquid chamber 5 in a flow channel 4 of the orifice by the orifice 6 and the length of the flow channel 4 are made constant, easier refilling of recording liquid can be assured and the refilling time be shortened.
