CONSTITUTION:A speed change gear M3 is connected to the output shaft M2 of an internal combustion engine M1. Further, the intake air quantity and car speed of the engine M1 are detected by the means M4 and M5, respectively. Further, the speed change ratio is switched through the up-shift or down-shift of the speed change gear M3 by an automatic speed change control means M6 on the basis of the detected intake air quantity and car speed. the output of the internal combustion engine M1 is controlled by increasing and decreasing the intake air quantity of the engine M1 by a control means M7 according to the car speed. In other words, as the car speed becomes close to the car speed at which up-shift is performed, the intake air quantity is reduced, and as the car speed becomes close to the car speed at which down-shift is performed, the intake air quantity is increased.
