PURPOSE:To obtain pictures of high quality even for an original that includes picture areas of different levels of picture quality, by switching the modes of input picture information having two different modes to store said picture information in a memory for each mode and synthesizing these stored picture information. CONSTITUTION:The same original is supplied from an image scanner 1 with change of modes and then stored in a picture memory 4. The stored picture data is developed to a video memory 8 and displayed on a CRT 7. A picture area is designated through a keyboard 11 or a pointing device PD12 together with reference to the screen of the CRT 7. Then the address areas of the picture data areas corresponding to both modes of the memory 4 are exchanged with each other. Thus the picture information are synthesized and outputted to a printer 2. In such a way, an original including characters and photographs or an original containing variable density parts can be outputted in detail. |
