PURPOSE:To enhance the reliability of control, by taking such a procedure that a control value for a step motor for adjusting the ratio of steering of rear wheels to front wheels is set on the basis of the ratio or a stopper, and by setting the control value on the basis of the stopper when a steering ratio detection means is defective. CONSTITUTION:A steering device has a step motor A, which functions to adjust the ratio of steering of rear wheels to front wheels and is regulated by a steering ratio control means B depending on a prescribed steering ratio characteristic. A control value for the step motor A can be set by a first positioning means C on the basis of a value detected by a steering ratio detection means D or be set by a second positioning means E on the basis of a stopper F which restricts the end of rotative stroke of the motor. Normally, the control value is set by the first positioning means C. When the defectiveness of the steering ratio detection means D is found out by a defectiveness detection means G, the control value is set by the second positioning means E through the action of a selection means H. |
