PURPOSE:To reduce the adjusting time by detecting a position deviation of an optical system and using the position deviation as a correction value and storing the result. CONSTITUTION:A mark of a document run while being pressed to a reference face is read actually to obtain the position at an effective reading eyesight of a sensor 3 at that time. A main CPU 51 obtains a difference of position data of two marks, then the correction value to the optical system position deviation is calculated and the result is stored in a nonvolatile memory 11. The reading data are corrected based on the correction value obtained in this way. Thus, no fine alignment is required for the optical system.
