<p>An electromagnetic filter including a mismatched electrical line element defining an intrinsic loss and having at one or both of its interfaces mismatching distributed constant line structures or lumped components, so as to introduce characteristic impedance discontinuities at the interfaces. In this way, multiple reflections of an electromagnetic wave are produced at the interfaces such that the electromagnetic wave is attenuated by the intrinsic loss of the mismatched line element upon each reflection, thereby effectively amplifying the attenuation effect of the mismatched line element.</p> |
