PURPOSE:To make it possible to easily adjust the gap between a printing head and a platen, by providing lever positioning plates each for limiting the position of a control lever at a reference position for mounting a printing head where the gap between the printing head and the platen comes to a predetermined gap and at a position corresponding to the thickness of printing paper. CONSTITUTION:A control lever 10 is engaged with one of the notches 11a of a lever positioning plate 11 in matching relation to the scale 0 of said plate 11 and, in this state, the leading end of a printing head 1 is contacted with the outer periphery of a platen 2 and the printing head 1 is fixed to a carriage 6 with a screw 7. When printing paper is printed, the control lever 10 is revolved to the direction shown by an arrow B to be matched with a copy edition scale. Because the control lever 10 is fixed to an eccentric cam 9a at this time, by revolving the control lever 10 to the direction shown by the arrow B, a carriage shaft 5 moves to a direction separated by a predetermined dimension A from the platen 2 and a gap of a predetermined dimension A is formed between the printing head 1 and the platen 2.
