PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of a welding operation by using a material contg. specific ratios of Al2O3, MgO, SiO2, CaF2, BaO, CaO, boron oxide, metallic manganese, and metallic silicon as a flux. CONSTITUTION:The compsn. of the flux contains 5-20wt% Al2O3, 25-45wt% MgO, 15-25wt% SiO2, 10-25wt% CaF2, 0.5-3wt% BaO, 3-15wt% CaO and contains these components within a 0.8-1.6 range of the ratio R of the total content of Al2O3 and MgO to the sum of SiO2, CaF2 and BaO. >=0.5wt% one kind selected from Na2O and K2O, 0.1-1.5wt% boron oxide, 1-5wt% metallic manganese, and 1-5wt% metallic silicon are incorporated therein. The good welding workability and the toughness of a weld metal are assured with high welding efficiency by using such flux for submerged welding welding. |
