PURPOSE:To reduce the whole width of a tape by setting the width of the tape to be stuck first to the necessary minimum, by sticking an adhesive tape for wrapping the end edge part in a U-shape after having formed a base material in a tubular shape, in order of the surface which becomes the inside surface of a can drum, the side edge, and the joint surface to the other end edge part. CONSTITUTION:An adhesive tape 2 is placed on the upper face of a can drum base material 1 and a superposed margin on the base material is set to 1.4mm, and the tape is stuck to the upper face of the base material by pressure welding rollers 3a, 3b. Subsequently, the adhesive tape 2 is bent downward by 90 deg. along a side edge 1S of the base material by a brush 4 and an adhesive part 2b is formed. Next, a part trailing down from the side edge 1S of the adhesive tape 2 is bent about 60 deg. toward the center line of the base material 1 by a turning- back roller 5. Thereafter, the adhesive tape 2 is fastened to the end edge part by upper and lower pressure welding rollers 6a, 6b, and an adhesive part 12c whose adhesion width is 5.4mm is formed.
