PURPOSE:To restrain generation of cavitation by arranging a series of a plurality of low fluid resistance projections in an arc form on the valve edge part on the surface opposite to the direction of opening operation of the valve body. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of projections 3 having their cross-sections approximately aerofoil form are formed in an arc from in the radial direction on the valve edge part on the surface opposite to the direction of opening operation of the valve body 1 as each of the projections has wider section at the central side of the valve body 1 and has narrower section at the peripheral side of said body 1. Similarly, a plurality of approximately aerofoil projections are arranged on the back face of the left half of the valve body 1. When the valve 1 is opened, the cavitation generated due to difference in fluid pressure at the primary and secondary side of the pipe passage can be restrained by a plurality of the projections 3.
