PURPOSE:To facilitate discharge of generated gas from a bioreactor tank and improve the volume efficiency of reaction, by placing a liquid-permeable partition plate at an upper part in a tank, attaching a gravity separation means for immobilized carrier above the plate and making the depth of the liquid deeper toward backward. CONSTITUTION:A horizontal reactor (tank) 4 having shallow liquid depth as a whole is used in a fermentation plant or waste water treatment plant accompanying gas generation. The space in the tank is divided into plural sections with liquid-permeable partition plate 6 placed perpendicular to the liquid flow and the depth of liquid in the tank is made deeper toward downstream. A gravitation separation means for immobilizing carrier is placed above each partition plate 6.
