PURPOSE:To sharpen the particle size distribution of a polymerized toner by suspension polymerizing a dispersion of a monomer composition in an aqueous medium containing a dispersion stabilizer having an N-containing organic group and an aqueous acidic material. CONSTITUTION:The aqueous medium contains the dispersion stabilizer obtained by treating a fine inorganic powder, such as silica, with an N-containing a silane coupling agent, a water-soluble acidic material, such as Brensted acid, for example, hydrochloric acid, and the monomer composition comprising the polymerizable monomer, such as styrene, an anionic polymer, such as a cyclic rubber, a polymerization initiator, and a colorant, and when needed, a cross- linking agent, a releasing agent, a magnetic powder, and the like are dispersed into the aqueous medium, and subjected to suspension polymerization. The produced toner particles after the end of the reaction is washed, recovered, and dried, thus permitting the polymerized toner sharp in particle size distribution to be obtained, and blocking resistance to be improved even if an offset preventer low in melting point is contained. |
