PURPOSE:To produce the titled copolymer readily, by reacting a copolymer obtained by copolymerization of maleic anhydride and an unsaturated hydrocarbon compound with amino phenol in an organic solvent and modifying the copolymer. CONSTITUTION:A copolymer of maleic anhydride and an unsaturated hydrocarbon compound (e.g., isobutylene, etc.) is reacted with aminophenol in an organic solvent (e.g., cyclohexanone, etc.) to give the aimed copolymer having constituent units shown by formula I, formula II and formula III (R1 is aryl, 1-16C alkyl or cycloalkyl; R2 is H or lower alkyl; l, m and n satisfy correlations shown by formula IV and formula V). EFFECT:The titled copolymer can be synthesized readily and in high yield while keeping hydroxyl group without passing an ester exchange reaction process. USE:Useful as a thin film coating resin, a base polymer for photosensitive resin, etc., heat-resistant resin, etc. |
