Filamentary textile materials are treated with a liquid, e.g. by washing, bleaching or dyeing by submersion in the liquid to which a pressurized gas in a subdivided state is continuously added in an amount of from 0.1 to 10 1/min. per 10,000 1/min. of treatment liquid. The gas which may be air is preferably injected into the liquid stream through at least one nozzle at an injection velocity of from 100-400 m/sec. Apparatus for carrying out the process comprises a treatment autoclave 1 within which a horizontally mounted perforated cylinder 3 is situated upon which the material is wound. An injection nozzle 10 supplies air via the liquid conduit 6 to the cylinder 3 through which passes a homogeneous mixture of gas and liquid. A constant pressure is maintained in the auotclave by a pump 24 and relief valve 25. Ancilliary equipment is provided to maintain the flow of gas and liquid. (For Figure see next column)</p> |
