PURPOSE:To execute accurately and surely detachment from a dammy bar by executing a drooping control and a torque control during the time from start of winding-up the dammy bar to finish of detachment and winding-up the dammy bar at high speed after finish of detachment. CONSTITUTION:After start of a casting, the dammy bar 1 and a billet 2 are drawn in succession by pinch rolls 4 under condition of connecting with a dammy bar head 3, and at reaching at the position of winding hook 6' on the front table 5, the dammy bar 1 is started to wind up by a crane 7. During the time from the start of winding-up the dammy bar 1 to the finish of detachment of the dammy bar head 3, the crane 7 is executed by drooping control to have drooping characteristics to a casting speed for the torque characteristics of the crane 7, and by torque limiting control to prevent generating of abnormal torque. Further, after finish of detachment of the dammy bar head 3, the crane is changed to high speed for winding-up. In this way, the detachment from the dammy bar is executed accurately and surely.
