PURPOSE:To shut out a directly coupled drive passage after connection of continuously variable transmission passage so that any upwash of an engine may be prevented, by forming the opposite faces of a sleeve on the input side of a dog clutch and a clutch gear on the output side in a step form. CONSTITUTION:In a dog clutch 8 coupled at the time of direct-coupled driving, and respective opposite surfaces of an input side sleeve and an output side clutch gear 38 are formed in a step form. A projection 36c is formed on the tip periphery of a projected spline 36a, and also a recessed spline 37c allowing free axial insertion of said projection is formed together with a projection 37d formed on its tip periphery, At the time of changing-over from firect-coupled driving to continuously variable transmission driving, even if the dog clutch 8 is energized in the releasing direction, it is not disengaged since the projections 36c, 37d are engaged with each other. When the continuously variable transmission passage is coupled, the output side clutch gear 36 is rotated faster than the input side sleeve 37 and the engagement between the projections 36c, 37d is released, thereby the dog clutch 8 can be disengaged. Thus, the upwash of an engine can be prevented.
