PURPOSE:To improve the active substance maintaining effect and realize a long service life, by using mat-form separators with a liquid absorption property. CONSTITUTION:Holding a free electrolyte up to the upper portions of electrode plates, mat-form separators 2 with a liquid absorption property, which consists of a woven stuff mixing very small glass fiber and a synthetic fiber such as polyester, including an inorganic powder such as silica or diatomaceous earth, are used for partition plates. The maximum bore of the mat-form separators 2 is less than 100mum, and the thickness is more than 0.8mm (20kg/cm<2> pressured condition). Since the mat-form separators 2 with a liquid absorption property prevent strongly falling off of the anode active substance, a lead storage battery of a longer life can be formed. |
