PURPOSE:To develop an electrostatic image which has a relatively low potential by a single-component development system which uses insulating magnetic toner by charging a developer with which the electrostatic image electrostatically by friction. CONSTITUTION:Toner is supplied onto a sleeve from a hopper 7. The toner is conveyed to a development area 8 through the rotation of the sleeve, but a thin fixed layer of toner and a movable layer on the fixed layer are formed on the sleeve and the toner is charged electrostatically by the friction between the fixed layer and movable layer to a quantity suitable for development. The toner contacts a photosensitive body which holds an electrostatic latent image, which is developed, but the electrostatic potential obtained by frictional charging is maintained at any time without being affected by a charge present between the sleeve and a drum and stable electrostatic charging characteristics having no variance are obtained. Consequently, an electrostatic latent image with a low potential can be developed. |
