PURPOSE:To widen the range where arcs splash around and to extend the life of a plasma generating gun by mounting a cathode having an outside surface formed to a spherical shape via an insulator into an anode having an inside surface formed to a spherical shape. CONSTITUTION:This plasma generating gun yields high-temp. and high-flow plasma flames, arcs, etc., by generating plasma and is used for a plasma heater, plasma cutter, etc. Such gun is formed by disposing the cathode 15 which is fixed to a cathode holder 16 and has the outside surface formed to the spherical shape into the anode 17 having the inside surface formed to the spherical shape and mounting the cathode holder 16 via the insulator 18 to the anode 17. Then the range where the arcs splash increases and the probability of splashing the arcs to the same point in the specified time is decreased. The time till the succeeding arcs is thus extended and the temp. in said part is substantially lowered; in addition, the arc generatable are is increased, the total abrasion loss is increased and the life is extended.
