PURPOSE:To produce an electric contact point material having an excellent welding resistance characteristic and high workability by forming a metallic layer on the surface of powder formed by dispersing a metallic oxide into an Ag base then molding and calcining the powder to form a sintered body. CONSTITUTION:An alloy of the base for Ag and metal for dispersion such as Sn, In, or Cd is melted and the melt thereof is dropped into water to form powder having about 0.5-1mm grain size. The above-mentioned powder is subjected to a heating treatment in an oxygen atmosphere, by which the powder constituted by dispersing the metallic oxide formed by the internal oxidation into the Ag base is obtd. The metallic layer consisting of Ag, Au, Ni, etc. is formed on the surface of the resultant powder to about 5-100mum thickness by a method such as plating. After the powder having the metallic layer is molded, the powder is calcined in an inert gaseous atmosphere or vacuum atmosphere at the temp. above the mp. of the metal to constitute the above- mentioned metallic layer. The electric contact point material of the sintered body formed by binding the powder particles to each other by the metal of the above-mentioned metallic layer is thereby obtd. |
